It works because most people stay. I make my money over a year or two, not on day one. Which means my entire incentive is to keep your site good enough that you never want to leave. If I slack off, you email me one line and you’re gone, and I lose the income.
And you don’t pay anything until you’ve seen it. I build a real demo of your actual site first. If you don’t like it, you walk away and it cost you nothing.
