Lawn Care / Rockford, IL

Migrating a lawn-care business off a lock-in builder from 54 to 95 on mobile

54 → 95Google mobile PageSpeed, before and after the rebuild
The challenge

Austin just wanted to get his lawn-care business going, so he tried to build a site himself on a template site builder. It scored 54 on Google's mobile test and loaded super slow. He could barely customize it, and he was paying every month to rent a site he did not even own.

A slow, locked-down site is a dead end for a local service business. It loads slow on the phones most customers use, it is a fight to change, and the owner is stuck paying forever with nothing to take with them.

What we did

We rebuilt the whole thing by hand, kept the look Austin wanted, and got it loading fast on mobile.

The rebuild took the site from 54 to 95 on Google's mobile PageSpeed test, with Best Practices and SEO both at 100. And the code is his to keep, so there is no platform holding his business hostage and no monthly rent on his own website.

What we built
  • Migrated off a lock-in template builder to a fast, hand-coded site
  • Same look, 95/100 Google mobile PageSpeed
  • Full ownership of the code, no monthly lock-in

Honestly I just wanted to get my business going, so I tried building the site myself. Spent too many nights fighting with some website builder, paying every month and barely able to change anything. Found Ryan and he just handled it. Looks legit now and I'm actually getting calls off it. Shoulda called him first.
